Cars Theme Pillow Mattress for Jude

The first time I saw a pillow mattress on Pinterest, I knew I wanted to make one.  Many of them are made by sewing four or five pillowcases together and supposedly taken minutes.  I really couldn't find any flannel pillowcases that would do for a two year old, plus I couldn't find just flannel pillowcases sold separately.  They were all sold as part of a sheet set.  So a trip to the Hancock Fabric shop it was.

I tried following several different tutorials and went through several trial and tribulations, but in the end it came together just like I envisioned.  I did include a fabric pocket on the open end to allow the pillow to be tucked in securely.  The pillows I purchased were quite fluffy, and even though I had made the pocket and it worked perfectly, I also added heavy duty snaps to keep the ends closed.

April Birthday

I made this card for a sweet little girl in our neighborhood
who celebrated her 11th birthday recently.  I love this little digital image from Sheri Baldy Birthday Besties Collection.  I cut out the card, large round scallop, flowers, leaves and flourish with my Cricut.  Miss April was cut out and embossed with a Spellbinder scalloped die.  I colored her with my Copic markers and highlighted  areas with a glitter pen.

Hoppin by to say Happy Easter

I made this card using the "Bunny Book" file from My Scrap Chick using my Cricut and the Sure Cuts a Lot program.  The bunny was cut using 140# weight watercolor paper.  The inside was made using two oval cut cards included with the Bunny Book file.

The files inside the book are
 "carrot file"    -   Quilling Patch
"Easter basket"   -   Shery K Designs
"hoppy easter"    -   Scrappin by Kris

This was such a fun card to make!!!

April showers bring May flowers

I have made this card using Nana Vic's image "Rainy Days".  We are so happy April is just a couple of days away as we are so ready for some spring weather and for all of our snow to melt.

The printed paper is from the Martha Stewart "Playful Blue" paper pad.  I used my Copic markers to color the image and I used my Cricut to cut out the flowers and the butterflies.  The sentiment on the inside is from "Bross Art Addiction".

I have entered this card into the
Lady Anne's Blog for Vickie's Anything Goes Challenge

A Peacock's colors are just striking

I made this card using the beautiful peacock image from
I used my copics to color the peacock to make it blend
in with the background design paper I have in my stash.

Can you smell the Flowers?

Don't you just love this beautiful image
from Mitzi Sato-Wluff?

My favorite type of card is an easel card, so of course this one was made that way.

To make this card I followed the specifications required by CDAC's  challenge "Easy as 1-2-3" running until March 31, 2013.  Each project has to include:
1  -  Flower
2  -  Design Paper
3  -  Pieces of Bling
1.  The flowers I have attached to my card are from different places using my Cricut and punches.   The larger flowers are made by folding a heart shape in half and joining them in the center.
2.  The pink design paper is from Paper Pizazz and the turquoise paper is from my stash.
3.  For the bling, I used stick on gems and pearls.  Floral stem wires were wrapped around a stylus and inserted.  A lovely butterfly was attached.

The image was cut out using a spellbinder die and the background dies were done using svg files I have.  The coloring was done using my copics.

Donavan's Love of Sports

Our grandson, Donavan, turned 15 on February 20.  It is so hard to believe just how fast these years have gone by.  Really hard to believe he starts driver's education today.  In the last few years he has found the love of sports, so I thought his birthday card this year should follow this theme.

I think I used svg. files from 7 different sites.  I will list all of the sites below.  If there is any specific file you are interested, please e-mail me and I will direct you into the right direction.

Scrapping Bug Designs - "Play Ball title" - "baseball" - "baseball bat"
Miss Kate Cuttables - "I Love This Game" - "Football Star" - "Nothin' But Net"
Tu J's - "Batter" can not find on site any longer
Creations by Roxy - "Home Run title"
Creative Pointe - "football player" "basketball player (transformed from football player" - "helmet"
KaDoodle Bug Designs - "baseball mit" - "letters-MVP"
The Free Svg Blog - "lion head"

Background papers used were used from my paper stash, other wording was done using scal2 on my Cricut.

Our Grandson turns ONE!

How fast a year goes by.  He surely can't be one already.  Especially hard to believe when there is 680 miles between us.  Sadly were were not able to attend, but saw lots of pictures and got to Skype with him a day or two later.  Yes, he does have beautiful red hair

Happy Birthday Jude!

Jude's parents decided on his name from The Beatles song "Hey Jude", so the theme to his birthday party was
The Beatles - "Abbey Road".
Of course, I had to make a card to go with the theme.  I got the background paper for the front of the card by scanning the party invitation we received.  The "Jude" was created by using a special order request I had made to
Regina at The Cutting Cafe.
The Jude was made into a easel image by sandwiching the back in between the background paper and actual card. She also made the sentiment in the round I used on each side of his name.  Thank you Regina, for helping me out!  On the inside, I found free sheet music of "Hey Jude" to use as my background paper.  (Sorry, I always forget to take pictures before taking the pictures.)

I couldn't not make a traditional birthday card for a one year old, so I had to print off one of my favorite images -
1st Birthday Boy -  from Mo's Digital Pencil.
Isn't he just adorable!!!
The sentiment on the front of the card is from TLC Creations.
Easel cards are my very favorite card to make.  The paper is from my stash, so not sure where I found it - but don't you think it is perfect?

First card of 2013

My wonderful husband and I just celebrated our 18th Wedding Anniversary.  Instead of going out in the cold Wisconsin winter, we just had pizza delivered.  We will go out for a special dinner when it warms up a bit. :o)

I made this card using one of the svg. files from the set Valentine Window Card Tops from The Cutting Cafe.  Regina has some amazing images and files for your cutting machine at very reasonable prices!!!   Especially with the special package she puts together for sale on every Monday.

The sentiment is from Crafting Cottage and worked perfectly for my husband.  I love the look the sticky black gems gave to highlight the hearts and the sentiment.

Birthday during the Christmas season

I made this birthday card for my brother-in-law.  His entire backyard is full of Christmas blow-ups and then has Christmas lights all around the house.  Sadly, I have only been able to see his Christmas extravaganza in pictures. This image was drawn by Marlene at Disguised as a Grown-up.   You can now purchase this image at Dude Time Doodles.  I found this fun string of lights and this fun paper in my stash.

Baby Jude's Shower

Coming up this Saturday is a baby shower for the upcoming birth of our grandson.  Yes that makes three grandsons.  The card was made using an svg file from svgcuts.  I received this pad of Deju Views, Sharon Ann Collection - called Baby Boy - Petite Garcon.  The sentiments - "You are loved", "baby shower", "baby boy" as are the letters spelling out Jude are included in the set.  This was a super fun card to make.

Here is also a photo of the letters I painted brown and added these fun wooden animals to be put on Jude's wall.  I know there is one missing.  Michaels was sold out of the "E", so hopefully it will be in very soon and will be sent before or shortly after Jude is born.  His due date is January 11th.  I will add some blue ribbon to the smaller A B C letters.  One thing I did find out with these letters - I am not a painter.  I think I will stick to cards and quilts.

You're a Classic!

I love this image from Doodle Pantry.    All three of the sentiments used are also included with this "Vintage Auto" set.   The background paper is from the "Vinage Auto Paper Digi Pack". I used Copics to color the auto.  It is always difficult to make masculine cards - but this set made it very easy!!!

We will truly miss you Kathy

Yesterday an angel on earth went to heaven.  Please say a prayer for my husband's brother and family.  His wife, Kathy, lost her long battle of health issues.  She has shown us that miracles can happen through prayer.

Kathy asked me a few years back if I would make her a quilt out of the scrubs she had worn to work.  Of course I said "yes".   It really turned out to be a labor of love.  There were so many different fabrics and colors to use. While constructing the quilt, she went through a terrible bout and the doctors had informed the family that she was not going to make it.  I prayed for her to be able to see and use the quilt.  She made it! (one of the miracles)  I finished her quilt and she was able to lie under it 3 years almost to the day.

Her love, sincerity and smile will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.  Rest in Peace my dear friend.

CDAC Progressive Challenge #4 - 3rd entry

This is entry #3 for the CDAC Progressive Challenge #4.  This is my first step-card, but definitely not my last.  It was actually much easier that I had ever guessed.  The image I used from the Challenge is Frank is from Bonibleaux Designs.  The haunted house image is from Blockhead Stamps.  I used misc svg files to cut the picket fence and tree.  The other embellishments were from my stash.

CDAC Progressive Challenge #4 - 2nd entry

This is another card made with digital image from CDACc Progressive Challenge #4.  This image was drawn Daisy Doodles.  This image reminds me of the Medallion images,so I then printed out 5 layers and cut down each layer until I had used  all 5.  I used the round and scalloped round Nestabilities under the image.  The birthday wordart is from Tlc Creations.  I used black gems to highlight special areas.

CDAC Progressive Challenge #4

The main focus for challenge #4 is Halloween.  There are 6 images included in Progressive Challenge #4 and I chose this adorable one from Sew Many Cards to make this sweet easel card.   The sentiment on the inside of the card is from Nana Vic's Digitals.  I used paper and embellishments from my stash and my Copics to color the image.  It is always so much fun opening my box of Halloween goodies that I have acquired through the years - especially the clearance items after Halloween the previous year.

Vickie Quickie September 18 - 30

I made this card for the Vickie Quickie.  The image supplied for this challenge is this lovely Lamp Post.  I also used Nana Vic's - Nana Vic's Puddles - Mr. Jones Puddle - and Dance in the Rain.  I colored the images with my Copic markers.

CDAC Progressive Challenge #3, Entry #230

I made this lovely easel card using the "Sunflower" image from Just Inklined for the CDAC Progressive Challenge #3.  I used my Copics to color the image.  I printed off a second image, then colored and cut out the butterfly to give it more dimension.  The sentiment on the front of the card is from Tlc Creations and the sympathy sentiment on the inside of the card is from Nana Vic's Digitals.  This easel card was made that you can see the front and inside in all when laying flat.

CDAC Progressive Challenge #2

I made this card for the CDAC Progressive Challenge #2.  This fun image is from Ellephantastic.  When I saw this image I thought of a friend with a baby and a little guy turning 3 next week.  I'm just imagining that she may have an occasional day she needs chocolate.  I had this perfect paper in my stash and I came up with the sentiment myself.

CDAC Progessive Challenge 1

I only the time to complete on card for this challenge.  I immediately knew I wanted to use the image from Priscilla Styles.  One of my favorite color combinations is hot pink and bright green which worked perfectly.  I folded the fan and adhered it to the front of the card with it being raised to give it a huge 3D effect.  The lovely birthday sentiment (Birthday Hugs and Wishes) is from Nana Vic's.  I can't remember right off hand who's birthday sentiment I placed on the inside.  I will find it and update this site when I do.  I used a Martha Stewart punch set, and lots of pink gems on all of the flowers on the fan.
